Maps Riddim – Blueroom Studios

Ziggy Ranking’s “Stalker” feels like the sharpest cut on Blueroom Studios’ 2017 Maps Riddim, and it sets the tone for a lean three-song set where each artist gets room to ride the groove. Bass aka Trilo-G’s “Build It” keeps the momentum moving, while Fireball’s “I Feel It Coming” leans into a smoother, more melodic finish. The whole thing runs just 12 minutes, which tells you Blueroom wasn’t aiming for a crowded showcase so much as a tight, focused riddim drop. Compared with a lot of mid-2010s studio output, there’s a more stripped-back feel here, less clutter and more emphasis on the vocal pull and the rhythm bed underneath it. Maps sits neatly in Blueroom Studios’ catalogue as one of those compact reggae releases that does its job without overplaying its hand.
