By 2019, Chaddydon Records had this seven-cut Mallabu Riddim moving in a lean, no-nonsense dancehall lane, with the kind of clipped, muscular pulse that leaves room for the voicing to do the talking. Digital Sham’s “Karma” and Squash’s “Go Hard” feel like the sharpest pressure points, while Anahjah, Ayesha, Jhonni Blaze, KR Kinetic and Letta Boss keep the mood gritty and streetwise rather than flashy. The production keeps its focus tight across the set, and the instrumental has enough bounce to carry the more determined cuts without ever sounding overworked. Squash closing with “Go Hard” gives the riddim its bluntest statement, and it’s the sort of last tune that leaves the whole project sounding clipped, tough and built for sound system play.
