MAD MAN RIDDIM produced by FARRIN 2000
Mad Man Overview
In the year 2000, the bashment rhythm was everywhere in dancehall music. The Mad Man Riddim was one of the standout rhythms of the time. Its creation began in a small Kingston studio, where the studio hand worked late nights helping to lay down tracks and keep the sessions running smoothly. The producer behind it all was FARRIN, known for pushing Jamaican music onto the world stage. FARRIN had already made a name with other dancehall projects, and his label was respected for quality and energy. As the Mad Man Riddim took shape, top artists were invited to record. Lady Saw, the “Queen of Dancehall” and known for her hit “Sycamore Tree,” brought her powerful voice to “Want A Lover.” Lexxus, who had already made waves with the song “Cook,” recorded “L.O.Y,” giving the riddim his signature style. Madd Anju added his song “17,” while Roundhead, a member of the Monster Shack Crew, contributed “To My Friends.” Skalla Lee rounded out the collection with “Lie.” Each artist brought something unique, but together they captured the energy of the bashment era. When the Mad Man Riddim was released, it quickly became a favorite in dancehall circles, showing how a strong rhythm, a skilled producer, and talented artists could create music that defined a generation.
