Low Lands Riddim – Kd Soundsystem

KD Soundsystem and Team DAMP keep Low Lands Riddim lean and punchy, with a harder dancehall feel than the softer, party-driven work the KD name has popped up on elsewhere. The six-track set runs short and tight, moving from Bay-C’s “Whine Up” and Contrass’ percussive “Clap Dat” into King Labash’s “Summertime” and Uman’s “Hey Ya Hey, ” all riding a crisp, mid-tempo bounce that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to jab through. IamRoyston’s “Domestic” is the sharpest of the bunch, but the real spine of the project is the title cut, where KD Soundsystem and Team DAMP let the riddim carry the weight and keep the arrangement stripped back to drums, bass, and forward motion.
