Livication Riddim – Scoops Records

Scoops Records’ Livication Riddim lands from the UK roots corner that Vibronics helped define, and you can hear that sort of steppers-minded pressure in the way the rhythm keeps its footing while the vocal cuts stay devotional and direct. Wayne McArthur opens with “Mercy, ” Vitamin M answers with “Zion Way, ” and Madu’s “Fettered and Chained” brings the sharpest social edge to the set, all three riding the same 2003 framework without crowding each other. It’s a small, tidy four-track package, but the extra “Mercy Version” from the Livication Riddim Section gives it that proper dub-side weight and leaves Madu’s cut hanging in the air as the most arresting statement.
