Gappy Ranks opens the Sunshine Riddim in a way that gives the whole set its lift, his Africa setting the tone before Jack Radics slides into Sunshine Loving and Cutty Ranks sharpens things up with Put It On. Ajang’s 2003 production keeps the pace bright and buoyant, with enough room for the likes of Louchie Lou and Michie One, Nikki Burt and Tubby T to each leave a quick imprint without crowding the rhythm. There’s a nice contrast between the sweeter voices and the tougher deejay cuts, which is exactly where this one catches its spark, and that little run from Morning Ride into Rebel feels like the point where the riddim locks in.
