Legend Riddim (2003) – Hi-Score Music

A warm, steppers-leaning groove with enough room for the vocals to breathe, Legend Riddim keeps things rooted in early-2000s reggae rather than chasing anything flashy. Hi-Score Music lets the arrangement do the work: the pulse is steady, the bass sits low and rounded, and the whole thing has that clean, uncluttered feel that makes a two-cut set hit harder than you’d expect. Lady Saw comes in sharp on “Still Convince, ” giving the riddim a sly edge, while Sizzla’s “Love So Real” pushes it into firmer roots territory. It’s a short slate, which only makes the contrast between the two voices clearer, and by the time the instrumental space opens up, the riddim’s simple strength is plain enough on its own.
