Riddim 78 – Kontrvk Hitz

Riddim 78 moves between affection, romantic uncertainty and the courage to face personal struggles. Behind the production is Anthony Smith, the independent producer and publisher known as KONTRVK Hitz, based in Pompano Beach, Florida. Smith brings different performers together around one reggae foundation, giving each artist room to develop a separate song and perspective. He also contributes his own recording, “Torture,” joining the voices assembled on the project.

Smooth T 649’s “Beautiful Girl” makes its intentions clear. Sunshine and star imagery turn the song into a celebration of a woman who brightens the singer’s world. His promises give the writing an openly affectionate character: this is someone making sure his partner knows she is valued.

Jay Shephard brings a more questioning perspective to “I’m Him.” He asks whether the other person misses him and remembers their time together. Those questions introduce vulnerability, placing the need for reassurance alongside the admiration expressed in the opening song.

R.I.G’s “No Fears” turns toward personal pain and the decision to confront fear. That shift extends the project’s emotional reach beyond courtship. Smith’s production connects these individual stories, while the writing gives each performer a different position to speak from. Affection, longing and resolve supply the collection with recognisable, everyday concerns, allowing the songs to offer distinct emotional perspectives within the shared riddim.
