Hypejenik Riddim – Peela Productons

By 2011, Peela Productons had lined up a neat little dancehall set on Hypejenik, and the draw is less any single star turn than the way the voices dart across the same rhythm, from Erup’s cheeky “Famous Like The Billboard” to Screechy Dan’s smoother “A Love Like This” and Xyclone’s “Tryna Hold Me Down. ” The riddim sits in that post-2000s dancehall pocket where the bounce is taut, the low end stays firm, and the tracks leave enough space for each artist to push their own angle, whether it’s swagger, girls, or straight-up badman talk. Dami D, Kay-O, Neziah, Spoon Aka, and Star round out the cast, giving the project a varied but tightly focused feel, all under the Peela Productons banner.
