The set moves from Beenie Man’s Christmas Once A Year and Stop Live In A De Pass to Bounty Killer’s Ask Fi War, Suspence and Blood Bath, with Frisco Kid’s Eye A Bun Dem, Mad Cobra’s A Gal A Chat and Merciless’s Gun From Paris adding extra weight. Fat Eyes was one of the most dependable 90s labels for hard-edged dancehall, and this rhythm fits that reputation well. A grim, aggressive sound and a stacked lineup make Hot Wax one of the more memorable mid-90s riddims.
