Hot Pack Riddim – Shornbeats Productions

Hot Pack Riddim came out of the 2021 dancehall run with a sharp, street-level edge, and Shornbeats Productions keeps the focus on raw energy rather than overloading the idea. The seven-track set folds in ten artists, so it moves with that compact juggling feel: Major K and Simma T jump out early on “Dirty Jab, ” Caspa G’s “Fed Up” keeps the pressure on, and Double R x Jasper Ymc’s “Roll It” adds a different swing before the project settles into its later cuts. There’s a nice push and pull between tougher party talk and more playful one-drop-to-dancehall rhythms, with “Kfc” and “Savanna” helping give the riddim its own character. But the closing title cut, “Hotpack Riddim” from Shornbeats, leaves the cleanest impression, tying the whole set back to the producer’s hand at the controls.
