Nehanda Riddim – Mount Zion Records

Andy Muridzo and Hwinza give Nehanda Riddim its sharpest opening turn on “Nyakasikana, ” which is probably the easiest entry point into Mount Zion Records’ 2021 ZimDancehall set. From there, the riddim keeps circling through a packed lineup of voices—Jah Master, Seh Calaz, Bazooker, Blot, and others—without losing its local pulse, even when the writing leans into spiritual imagery and streetwise romance. Compared with Mount Zion’s earlier runs like Lovers Tree and Time Check, this one feels a touch more rooted in the fast-moving Zimbabwean dancehall conversation, with the beat leaving plenty of space for melodies, patter, and hooks to cut through. It’s a proper label showcase too, sitting comfortably among Mount Zion’s run of riddim projects while pushing the imprint deeper into the ZimDancehall lane.
