HOLIDAY RIDDIM produced by ANCIENT RECORDS 2012
Holiday Overview
In 2012, Carnival in the Caribbean had a fresh sound. The parade flow that year quickly became a favorite, thanks to the Holiday Riddim. This riddim came from ANCIENT RECORDS, a label known for shaping dancehall and reggae music in Jamaica. ANCIENT RECORDS, led by producer Jordan McClure, has worked with many top artists and helped push new sounds into the spotlight. The Holiday Riddim brought together strong voices. Aidonia, a top name in dancehall, delivered “Sweat Up Yuh Body.” Aidonia is famous for hits like “Yeah Yeah” and has been an important figure in the genre for years. Deablo added his own energy with “Wine N Turn Me On.” Deablo is known for his sharp lyrics and is part of the J.O.P crew, working closely with other artists on the riddim. Jayds and Onton teamed up for “Life Over Death (feat. Onton),” a track that shows their chemistry. Jayds is a core member of ANCIENT RECORDS, known for his work behind the scenes as well as on the mic. Onton also appears solo with “Broad Out,” adding his unique style. The two also created the “Holiday Riddim Instrumental,” giving DJs a strong base for Carnival parties. Tony Matterhorn, famous for the global hit “Dutty Wine,” joined with “One Life.” His experience as a selector and artist always brings energy to any riddim. Even today, the Holiday Riddim gets played during Carnival flashbacks, keeping the 2012 parade flow alive.
