Back in 2013, when dancehall was still leaning hard into stripped-down digital riddims with a street-level message, Pure Wata came through with seven cuts and a tight little JOP-heavy lineup. Aidonia’s “Must Overcome” brings the militant edge, while Deablo’s “Ghetto Yutes Dream” and Shokryme’s “Life Affi Betta” keep the focus on survival and upward pressure. Jayds’ “Call My Phone” and Onton’s “Love Mommy Everyday” soften the mood a touch without losing the grit, and the whole thing runs just over 20 minutes, so it never drags. Ancient Records had the project out on April 25, 2013, and the medley push around it gave the riddim a proper run in the dancehall space at the time.
