HOLDING FIRM RIDDIM (DANCEHALL REGGAE) – SAJAY PRODUCTIONS 2015
Holding Firm Overview
The Holding Firm Riddim roots anthology came out in Jamaica in 2015. This project gathered several reggae and dancehall artists over one strong, revival-style riddim. Sajay Productions produced the riddim, adding their own touch to the reggae landscape. The dub version was mixed by a skilled engineer who kept the classic reggae dub sound alive, using echo and reverb to bring out the best in each track. Bugle stands out on the riddim with his song "Can’T Please Anybody." Bugle is well known for his hit "Rasta Party" and has worked with top artists in reggae and dancehall. Iba Mahr’s "She Make Me Bawl" is another highlight. Iba Mahr is recognized for his smooth voice and songs like "Diamond Sox," which made a big impact on reggae charts in Jamaica. Lutan Fyah brings energy with "Big Up." He is respected in reggae circles and has released many albums, including "Time & Place," which helped him reach a wider audience. Conno’s "Nah Give Up" and Kantana’s "Still A Try" both add to the positive and determined mood of the anthology. These tracks show the riddim’s uplifting message. Other songs on the riddim include "Devil Display" by Truthful, "Holding On Firm" and "Love You Nothing Less," both by Amnon. Each artist brings their own style, but the riddim ties them together with a heavy bassline and roots feeling. Fans still play this dub cut today as a memory of 2015 roots reggae.
