Mo Music Productions’ Headache Riddim sits right in the late-’90s dancehall stretch when sharp one-drop-less juggling rhythms were carrying some of the scene’s biggest names. Produced by Louis “Flabba” Malcolm in 1998, the set came out on Mo Music and helped cement the label’s place in the era’s riddim business. Flabba Malcolm would go on to be closely associated with a string of dancehall projects that kept the label name moving through the early 2000s.

The rhythm itself has that hard, forward-driving feel that made late-’90s dancehall so effective: lean drums, a snappy bounce, and enough open space for deejays to punch through with attitude. It is not a glossy crossover cut; it is built for sound system pressure, with the vocalists working the groove in different directions instead of being boxed into one mood.
