Gungo Riddim – Eruption

Eruption’s 1998 Gungo Riddim pulls together a lively dancehall cast with 12 tracks and 13 different artists, led by Angel Doolas, Ras Myrhdak, Captain Barkey, Daddy Screw and Macka Diamond, then still recording as Lady Mackeral. The combination cuts like We Are Bionic, Gal Maniac, Water Bed and Gun A Select give the riddim plenty of variety, while Pancho’s Gungo and Powerman’s Hot Girl help anchor the set. Produced under the Eruption banner, it has that late-90s dancehall feel where upbeat slackness and catchy one-drop chant-outs sit side by side, and the lineup also includes Greg Hines, Kerosene Oil, Moet, Ricky Tenn, Serial Kid and Stereo Cash.
