Good Gyal Riddim (2012) – Blaqk Sheep / Hot Coffee Music

Rough cut. The Good Gyal Riddim has that early-2010s dancehall snap, all bright bounce and cheeky pull, and Blaqk Sheep / Hot Coffee Music keep the energy leaning toward the girls’ anthem side without letting it get sugary. Gappy Ranks’ “Good Gyal” sits neatly beside Spice’s “It A Ben Dem, ” which gives the juggling a harder, more commanding edge, while Kantana’s “One Gal” and Stylysh’s “My Wine” keep the focus squarely on the dancefloor. There’s a little UK-Jamaica connection in the cast too, with Gappy Ranks bringing his London-rooted flavour into a set that still feels firmly built for yard parties, and Bridgez’ “Good Good Good” tucks in as a sharp mid-pack cut, just enough to keep the riddim moving.
