Ghetto Joy Riddim – Cp1 Records

CP1 Records keeps this one tight and unflashy, leaning on a small 2011 dancehall lineup that feels more like a quick yard session than a big compilation. Cp Pedro gets the strongest look with “Even Though Yuh Gone” and “She Love Di Way Mi Love Her, ” both riding the riddim’s bittersweet groove with that relationship talk dancehall used to do so well. Madd One’s “Can’T Resist Love” pushes the same mood a little harder, while Woney’s “Money Mi Seh” cuts across it with a more streetwise angle. There are only five cuts here, which gives the whole thing a compact, almost throwback feel, and the fact that CP1 leaves room for its own version in the middle makes it feel like a proper producer’s showcase rather than a loose singles dump.
