Back in 2014, dancehall was still leaning hard into compact, street-ready rhythm projects, and Friday Fren Riddim fits that moment with a sharp little eight-track set from True Loyal Records. Bugle’s “Something Wrong With You” brings the weight, while Gyptian’s “Where Would I Find” smooths the edges with a more melodic pull; Kiprich gets the cheeky side of things going on “Boring Life Ova” and doubles up with Dainjah on the title cut, which carries the funniest, most lived-in energy here. Mblem’s “Mr Pervert” also got both clean and raw versions, a reminder of how these compilations were built to move between radio and dance. At just nine tracks including the instrumental, it’s a tight snapshot of mid-2010s dancehall from a label that knew how to keep a riddim lean and playable.
