True Loyal Records leant into a sharper, more hook-driven dancehall sound on Big Dreams Riddim, and the 2017 set feels less like a broad singer showcase than a compact showcase for a few hungry voices. Charly Black anchors it with the title cut and the tougher “Full A Gyal” versions, while Gyptian’s “Like Magic” and Charly Chaplin’s “Feeling Rich” keep the pressure on the money-talk and ambition theme without losing the bashment edge. The rhythm itself sits in that sturdy mid-tempo pocket, with enough room for the vocals to cut through and enough bounce to keep the dancers moving. Likkle Dainjah closes things out with “Reputation, ” which, alongside the instrumental feel running underneath the set, leaves the project sounding tight and focused rather than overpacked.
