Foli Riddim – Badjohn Republic

Seven tracks deep and all voiced by different artists, Foli Riddim lands as a compact 2018 soca set with Bunji Garlin, Fay Ann, Menace, Salty, Dale Ryan and Jonnelle all taking a swing at Badjohn Republic’s version of “foli, ” a West African idea of rhythm translated here into Caribbean terms. Bunji’s “See Meh” is the obvious heavyweight cut, but Fay Ann’s “Feel Good” sits just as naturally on the riddim, and the whole thing has that bright, percussive, road-ready pulse Badjohn Republic has been pushing through the tracklist since the opening bars. The instrumental closes things out as its own full-length version, and the release was issued on October 26, 2018.
