FLEX INSANE RIDDIM produced by PYRAMID 1997
Flex Insane Overview
Back in 1997, dancehall was full of energy, and sound systems were at the heart of the scene. That year, a special riddim started its journey. The riddim architect behind it worked closely with producer PYRAMID, known for pushing the boundaries of dancehall and helping new talent break through. PYRAMID had already made a name for himself with his label and a few big streaming hits, so people listened when he was in the studio. The team wanted something that would light up dances and stay in people’s heads. They built the riddim from the ground up, layering heavy bass and sharp snares, keeping the vibe raw and ready for the sound system. When it was time for vocals, they brought in Rocabessa, Spragga Benz, and Tomahawk. Rocabessa laid down “Ole' Imposter,” giving the riddim a catchy hook and a story people could relate to. Then Spragga Benz and Tomahawk teamed up for “Flex Insane.” Spragga Benz was already turning heads in the dancehall world, known for his hit “Jack It Up” and his strong presence on stage. Tomahawk matched his energy, making the track a festival favorite. When the compilation dropped, the sound system cut became a classic. Fans of 1997 dancehall always mention it, remembering how these artists and PYRAMID made something that lasted.
