Flamenco Riddim – Chalwa

By the time Chalwa put out Flamenco Riddim in 2006, the label already had a feel for crisp, dancefloor-minded juggling, and this one sits right in that mid-2000s run of sharp, club-ready dancehall. Elephant Man’s “Me Like It” is the obvious magnet, but the cut that gives the riddim its pulse is the sequence around Flava Unit, S. T. F. J. , and Kid Kurrupt, where the flow turns from sly one-liners to outright party talk. It’s a tidy 10-track set with 10 different voices, which tells you Chalwa wanted variety without losing momentum. The version from Factor Of Renaissance sits dead center, and the order keeps the energy moving in a straight line: no filler, just one pull-up after another.
