Crude E’ Vil’s “Carnage” is the sharpest entry on Field Marshal Riddim, the 2021 Tech Head Records drop that keeps the roster tight and the energy aimed straight at the dance. Around it, Di Ultimate comes through with “Ambition” in both clean and raw versions, while Karamanti’s “Pray 4 U, ” Odeum’s “Money Pree, ” and Tyrical’s “Almighty” give the project its range, from straight-forward badness to more reflective flashes. Tech Head had already been leaning into this kind of compact, no-frills dancehall on releases like Ominous and Si69ine that same year, and Field Marshal feels cut from that same cloth: a hard-edged riddim built for selectors, with the instrumental version folding neatly into the vocal cuts rather than sitting off to the side.
