Evil Heart Riddim (2013) – Jcannon Records

2013 was still deep in that hard-edged dancehall stretch where gun talk, warning songs, and straight-to-the-point hooks carried a lot of the weight, and Evil Heart Riddim fits right into that mood with just five cuts from JCannon Records. Iyara’s “Gun Session” comes in grim and direct, while Kalado’s “Endure” cools the temperature a little by leaning into grit and patience instead of pure threat. Nymron’s “Sharp Shooter” and Rage’s “Tell Dem” keep the pressure on, giving the riddim a compact, no-frills energy that doesn’t waste a second. With only five artists on board, the project feels tight rather than crowded, and that sharper focus suits a release that dropped right in the middle of a very busy 2013 dancehall run.
