In the early-2000s dancehall lane, Escape Riddim catches that sharp Bacchanal energy with a cut that feels wired for the dance, all taut bass and quick-fire mic work. Cobra’s “Like Wah” sets the pace in both radio and raw form, then Vybz Kartel’s “Mek Noise” keeps the temperature high with the same double-version treatment, while Capleton’s “Better Listen Now” brings a harder conscious edge to the sequence. Mr Vegas, Tony Curtis, Lexxus and Zumjay keep it moving without letting the riddim sag, which is part of why this one still plays like a proper session piece. There’s even a little curveball tucked in near the end with Spice’s “Good Loving, ” a nice final flash before the set fades out.
