Endurance Riddim – The Kvg/Kyle Phillips

A warm, mid-tempo soca groove with enough pulse to keep the road moving, Endurance Riddim hangs on to that easy Caribbean lift while leaving room for the voices to do the work. Kyle Phillips and The KVG keep the arrangement tight and lean, and Sherisse Collymore’s “The Main Thing” fits that frame nicely, sounding like the kind of cut that could have opened more doors for her in soca. Sekon Sta’s “Centre Of The Universe” and V’ghn’s “Just The Beginning” give the riddim two different shades of swagger, while the instrumental at the end lets the production breathe for a minute. It’s a short set, really, just four tracks and a clear sense of direction.
