Burn Up Riddim – Straight Sound

A sharp, mid-tempo dancehall juggernaut with a bright, stringy pulse and enough low-end muscle to keep the dancers locked in, Burn Up Riddim came out of Straight Sound’s Swiss camp in 2010 and line-drew a lively set without overcomplicating the formula. Cali P gets the earliest run with “Wine Pon Mi, ” and the clean/dirty pair gives the riddim an immediate anchor, while Serani and Bugle’s “Feels Like Music” and T. O. K’s “Burning Me Up” push the tune into more polished, radio-ready territory. Jah Thunder’s “Clap Your Hands” adds that rougher edge the project needs, and the whole thing sits nicely alongside Straight Sound’s other early-2010 dancehall work, where the label was leaning hard into party-forward juggling with a European touch.
