Earth By Day Riddim doesn’t come with the kind of big-name lineup you’d expect from a major 2007 dancehall set, and that’s part of the charm: this one keeps the focus tight, with just three cuts and a straight instrumental version riding alongside them. Bongo Spear’s “Heart Breaker” sets the tone, while Deciple feat. Pilot’s “Greedy Eyes” adds the other vocal angle, both sitting on a compact, no-frills rhythm that leaves plenty of room for the bass and the skank to do the talking. There’s no long guest list to distract from the groove, just a small showcase of voices on a stripped-back dancehall cut. The release comes down to three tracks in all: “Heart Breaker, ” “Greedy Eyes, ” and the “Earth By Day Riddim” version.
