Dwfl Riddim Side B (2014) – Bassick Records

Bassick Records turns the DWFL riddim into a full-blooded dancehall juggling, and Side B stretches that idea out across a much bigger run than the first half. The label was already active in 2014, issuing the project under its BasSick Records imprint, with the Side B album landing on June 24, 2014. The instrumental sits in that stripped, bass-led zone dancehall fans know well: hard kick drum, heavy low end, and enough open space for each voice to cut through cleanly.

The guest list mixes proven names with newer street voices. Beenie Man’s “How We Do It” brings veteran swagger to the rhythm, while Ninjaman’s “Ninja Love” gives the set a classic badman edge. Ishawna’s “Cao (Clean and Out)” and Navino’s “Life Mi She” push the riddim into more current, melodic territory, and Harry Toddler’s “Dancing Splash” keeps the party pressure high. Bencil doubles down with “Fuck Shop” and “Pet Shop, ” a pair that gives the set a rawer, more mischievous tone, while Jahmeil’s “Feelings” and Jomo’s “Party We Say” lean into the dancehall-party mood that runs through the whole package.

What makes the release work is the contrast: veteran voices, risqué one-liners, and club-ready hooks all riding the same skeleton. It is a straight dancehall set, but not a one-note one. The best cuts are the ones that use the space in the riddim differently, from Beenie Man’s authority to Ishawna’s sharper, more playful delivery.
