Duh Suh Riddim – Uim Records

Tommy Lee Sparta’s “Pat It Up” gives Duh Suh Riddim its sharpest edge, and UIM Records keeps the whole set locked into that same lean, menacing dancehall pulse. The six-track project also runs through Blak Diamon’s “Bagga Talk, ” Stylish’s “Diss Mi A Cry For, ” Destiny Sparta’s “Stay, ” Jimbo Sparta’s “Riffle Sing, ” and Iya Champs’ “Nuh Grounds Out, ” with the Tommy cut clearly set up as the headline moment. There’s a familiar UIM strain here too: hard, street-ready, and stripped down enough to let the vocals bite, but this one feels a touch more focused than some of the label’s noisier work around that period. Coming in as a 2014 release, it sits neatly inside the UIM catalogue as one of those compact juggling riddims built for grimy selector play and the kind of voiced-up single that travels fast.
