Dp Riddim – Dialtone Production

Dialtone Production’s DP Riddim from 2011 has that lean, no-frills dancehall feel where the instrumental does the talking and the voices have to cut through clean. G Warren’s “Place Where Me From” sits right in that pocket, with Harry Toddler bringing his seasoned roughneck edge on “Real Friend, ” while Laden’s “Bubble Up Nuh” gives the set its most memorable push. It’s a tight four-track run with the producer himself front and center on the title cut, and that sparseness gives the whole thing a gritty, almost demo-room urgency that suits the era.
