Diamonds And Gold Riddim – DJ Frass Records

DJ Frass Records has long been one of the more dependable names in modern Jamaican production, and by 2013 Andre Gordon’s label was already balancing hard-edged dancehall work with cleaner, radio-friendly reggae arrangements. Diamonds And Gold sits comfortably in that lane: a polished one-riddim set with a warm, melodic pulse, crisp drum programming, and enough open space for the voices to carry the emotion.

The strongest cuts come from the singers who know how to sell uplift without sanding off the edge. Jah Cure’s World Is In Trouble gives the riddim its most urgent roots warning, while Alaine’s Jah Is So Good brings the sweeter, devotional counterpoint. I-Octane’s Jah Jah Mission and Queen Ifrica’s Corrupt System push the project back toward conscious fire, with the latter giving the riddim a sharper social bite. Christopher Martin’s Baby I Love You and Ce’Cile’s Always Be Around tilt things toward lovers rock and romantic restraint, and Demarco’s Me She Want and Da’Ville’s Your Body On Me add the more direct, playful side of the set.

Elsewhere, Chuck Fenda’s Stop Worry, Niyorah’s Love You Same Way, Peetah Morgan’s Dem Can’t See I, and Fantan Mojah’s Talk Them A Talk keep the energy rooted in uplift and resilience. It’s a 2013 release that feels made for juggling, but the lineup keeps it from sounding like a routine compilation.
