Dembow Riddim – Sackaz Productions

Dembow Riddim comes out of Sackaz Productions in 2012, and it sits in that early-2010s dancehall space where remix culture, rude-boy energy and crossover instincts all collided. The title points back to the classic dembow pattern that helped shape modern dancehall’s global afterlife, and this cut draws on a harder, more percussive update with a racing feel made for fast-deploying voicings and dancefloor pull.

The strongest thing about the project is the cast Sackaz lines up around it. Vybz Kartel turns up twice, with Party Me Say and Slow Motion, and that alone tells you where the riddim lives: sharp-edged, playful, and built for a deejay who can make a simple hook feel dangerous. Bounty Killer teams with Serani on Badmind Shut The Fuck Up, a pairing that gives the riddim a colder, more confrontational stance. Cham links with O. on Tun Up in both radio and raw versions, pushing the party angle a little harder, while Bunji Garlin’s No Time Fi Badmind brings a Trinidad-born sting that widens the riddim beyond straight Jamaican juggling.

The project also reaches into veteran territory with Super Cat and Shabba Ranks on Girls Town, which gives the release extra weight and ties the whole thing back to the lineage that made dembow language travel in the first place. Sheba, Thing and Psycho Tanbad add more voices to the juggling, so the riddim plays less like a one-off and more like a high-volume platform for personalities.
