Punchy and perky, Custom Riddim leans into the bright, jumpy side of 2014 soca with five cuts from Kirkledove Records that keep the energy up without overcrowding the play. Busy Signal opens with “Luv Gal” in both radio and raw versions, setting a slick tone before Mr. Vegas and Cigar slide through “Do The Right Ting, ” then QQ’s “Go Down Low” and Sanjay’s “Back A The Bike” keep the riddim moving with that familiar road-march momentum. Sem G closes things out with “Whine Up, ” again in radio and raw form, and that one feels like the clearest club-ready payoff on the set. The whole package runs just 22 minutes on the original 2014 release, so it plays more like a tight party burst than a drawn-out juggling.
