By 2008, dancehall was still leaning hard on sharp one-riddim packages and blunt, war-ready lyrics, and Croaking Lizard fits that mood neatly with just three cuts lined up over a version that nods back to Lee “Scratch” Perry’s classic “Croaking Lizard” foundation from Super Ape. Delly Ranx opens with “Disrespect, ” one of his more pointed ride-outs, while Esco’s “Cocky Inna Pum Pum” and Assailant’s “Ready Fi War” keep the energy raw and street-facing, each voice cutting through the same stripped-back pulse in a different way.
