Cosmic Drop Riddim – Fruits Records

Released in 2022 on Fruits Records, Cosmic Drop Riddim brings together four cuts around a rootsy reggae foundation, with Lee “Scratch” Perry opening the set on Words From The Upsetter and Spring Thunderstorm, Vin Gordon handling the title track Cosmic Drop, and Yasus Afari closing with Healing Chant. The project was put together by the Geneva-based label Fruits Records, whose studio band The 18th Parallel recorded the riddim track years earlier before shaping it into a finished EP. Perry’s contribution was laid down in 2019, and the release also carries a warm tribute feel in his memory, with Roberto Sánchez helping recreate a dubby Black Ark-style sound on Spring Thunderstorm.
