Cobe Riddim – Knk

By 2013, dancehall was deep in the era of stark, hard-edged one-riddim sets, and KNK’s Cobe Riddim fits that moment with just three cuts: Tommy Lee’s “In Di Nite, ” Vybz Kartel’s “Mi In Love, ” and Teff’s “Tell Dem. ” The production keeps things stripped back and functional, leaning on a heavy low end, clipped drum patterns, and a spare, chant-friendly loop that leaves plenty of room for the deejays to work the pocket. Tommy Lee comes in with the most aggressive performance, while Kartel’s cut has the sharper melodic angle and Teff keeps it direct and terse. With only three voices on the rhythm, the project moves quickly and stays locked to the same tense, mid-paced dancehall groove, with the bassline doing most of the talking.
