Circle Riddim – Krossandbuss Production 2019

Tight rotation. Kross and Buss keep the Circle Riddim moving with a seven-cut 2019 set that sits in that reggae/hip-hop pocket the French label has been leaning into, and Tiwony’s “Ting A Ling” feels like the anchor point before Jah Mason, Lyricson and Straika D take it in their own directions. There’s a sharper, more charged edge here than on some of Kross and Buss’s earlier work, with the whole thing sounding like it was made for soundsystems that want a little bounce with their roots. The lineup leans francophone-heavy without losing the Jamaican connection, which has long been part of this crew’s appeal, and that mix gives the riddim a distinct place in the Kross and Buss catalogue rather than just another one-off compilation.
