Turner Production’s Caan Tame Riddim comes out of 2017 with a roots-conscious spread of voices that feels rooted in the everyday pressures of Jamaican life, from Ginjah’s “Central Village Rock” to Luciano’s “World In Trouble” and Sizzla Kalonji’s “Got To Start Somewhere. ” The ten-track set keeps its focus on message music rather than chase anything flashy, and the titles alone point to struggle, firmness, conflict, and survival running through the whole cut. Nina Karle and Milton Blake add a softer, more reflective edge in the middle, but the riddim’s real lift comes from the heavyweight section around Luciano and Sizzla, where the vocals carry the most weight. “Love Run The Road” by Israel Yadalfi closes things out with a steady, forward-moving note, leaving the production to speak in plain, disciplined reggae terms.
