C4 Riddim opens with Lavaman’s “All My Life, ” and that’s a smart way in, because his cut carries the most melodic weight on a four-track soca set that keeps its energy pointed straight at the road. Papi’s “Di Wukkage” pushes harder into jump-up territory, while Skinny Banton and Elkanah’s “In D Road” adds a sharper, chant-driven edge before Tallpree closes things out with “D Front, ” the track that gives the riddim its final burst of movement. Cantstop Records kept the lineup tight here, and that economy lets each voice land without the project ever feeling crowded. Lavaman’s tune is the one that lingers longest, though, balancing the riddim’s percussive drive with a cleaner, more tuneful finish.
