BULL COW RIDDIM produced by FAT EYES RECORDS 1995
Bull Cow Overview
In 1995, a new selector’s mix featuring the Bull Cow Riddim made its mark on the Jamaican dancehall scene. The mix quickly caught attention across local sound systems and radio stations, thanks to its powerful blend of hardcore vibes and catchy hooks. Several standout artists brought the riddim to life. Lukie D’s “So In Love” added a smooth, melodic touch. Known for his soulful voice, Lukie D later gained international recognition with the group L.U.S.T, but here he shines solo. Lady Saw, often called the “Queen of Dancehall,” delivered “Strong Wuk And Devotion.” Before this, Lady Saw had already made waves with her hit “Stab Up De Meat,” and she would go on to win a Grammy in 2002 for her work on No Doubt’s “Underneath It All.” Merciless kept the energy high with “You A Gwaan Good,” showing the lyrical skill that made him a favorite in dancehall clashes. The collaboration “Cry And A Bawl” brought together Bounty Killer, a major figure in dancehall with hits like “Living Dangerously,” and Boom Dandimite, who was known for his energetic delivery. Behind the scenes, FAT EYES RECORDS produced the riddim. Founded by Bulby York and Fatta Marshall, FAT EYES became one of Jamaica’s leading dancehall labels in the 1990s. The label is known for working with top artists and producing hits like Beres Hammond’s “Rock Away.” Looking back, the Bull Cow Riddim’s bashment flow captured the true spirit of 1995 dancehall—raw, energetic, and unforgettable.
