Bobo Spice Riddim – Cali Bud Production

Cali Bud Production’s Bobo Spice Riddim came out in 2000, right in the moment when dancehall was moving hard into the new millennium with militant energy and stripped-down, club-ready juggling. The set is credited to Sheldon Stewart on the Cali Bud label, and the versioning here is lean and purposeful, with the rhythm carrying a tense, propulsive bounce that gives the artists plenty of room to bark, sing, and ride the pocket. The label was active around a cluster of early-2000s dancehall releases, and this one sits comfortably among the harder-edged riddims of that period.
