Black Ice Overview
The year 2000 was a strong time for bashment rhythms in dancehall music. Many selectors and fans remember the Black Ice Riddim as one of the pure dancehall sounds from that era. The riddim was produced by GRAVI-T MUSIC, a label known for its sharp dancehall productions and for helping new and established artists shine. GRAVI-T MUSIC has worked with several big names in the genre and built a reputation for quality releases. The Black Ice Riddim brought together some of dancehall’s most respected artists. Bling Dawg delivered “Mouth Badman,” a track that showed his tough lyrical style. Lexxus, also known as Mr. Lexx, came with “Glass House.” Lexxus is well known for his hit “Cook” and his energetic performances on stage. Spragga Benz teamed up with Sugar Slick for “Its So Hard.” Spragga Benz is famous for songs like “Jack It Up” and has worked with international artists, including a feature on KRS-One’s “Step Up.” Bounty Killer’s “Proceed” added a heavyweight vibe.
