BLACK CINDERELLA RIDDIM produced by SPRAGGA ROOTS 1998
Black Cinderella Overview
The Black Cinderella Riddim was released by SPRAGGA ROOTS, a label and producer known for deep roots reggae and dancehall projects. SPRAGGA ROOTS built a reputation in the 1990s for authentic, dancefloor-ready rhythms, and the Black Cinderella Riddim became one of their most memorable works. This 1998 project brought together some of reggae’s most respected voices. Sizzla, who had already gained attention with albums like “Praise Ye Jah,” delivered the powerful track “Can’t Cool Can’t Quench.” Sizzla’s unique style and energy helped push the riddim forward. Admiral Tibet, known for his conscious lyrics and the hit song “Serious Time,” contributed “Envious People,” adding a thoughtful message to the mix. Terro Fabulous, who saw chart success in the early 1990s with “Action” alongside Nadine Sutherland, appeared here with “Whenever Time,” showing his smooth delivery over the roots rhythm. General Pecus offered “Health & Strength,” while Simpleton brought “Walk With Yu Friends,” each adding their own flavor and keeping the riddim lively. The collection also featured Norrisman with “Wha Them Enjoy,” Edi Fitzroy’s “There Is A F Ire,” Sanchez’s “Black Cinderella,” Lukie D’s “Made A Vow,” and Singing Melody’s “On & On.” These songs echoed through sound system nights, creating a lasting impression on reggae fans. SPRAGGA ROOTS, as the producer and selector, made sure the riddim stayed true to its roots sound while also appealing to new listeners. The Black Cinderella Riddim stands as a strong example of reggae’s power in 1998, still celebrated by collectors and DJs today.
