Skillibeng

Skillibeng is a Jamaican dancehall artist known for sharp, fast-paced delivery, streetwise writing, and a style that moves easily between raw local energy and crossover appeal. Born Emwah Warmington in Saint Thomas, Jamaica, he came up in Lyssons and began building his name in the middle of the 2010s before breaking through more widely with a run of songs that gave his voice and personality real distinction. His early catalogue showed a knack for tense, rhythm-heavy records, but it was tracks like “Brik Pan Brik” and later “Crocodile Teeth” that pushed him into a much bigger spotlight and made him one of the more closely watched new voices in modern dancehall. Skillibeng’s sound is often marked by clipped cadences, punchy slang, and a sense of movement that feels both playful and hard-edged. That combination has helped him stand out in a genre full of strong personalities, and it has also made him a natural fit for collaborations and remixes that travel beyond Jamaica. His work has connected with listeners at home and abroad, especially through songs such as “Mr Universe,” “Whap Whap,” and his appearance on Vybz Kartel’s “Bad Gyal.” He has also kept a steady presence through releases tied to his own EastSyde identity, including projects like The Prodigy and Eastsyde, which helped define his rise from local buzz to international recognition. Part of Skillibeng’s appeal is that he sounds rooted in a particular place while still feeling current and flexible. He brings humor, grit, and a sharp ear for hooks to records that can hit in clubs, on radio, or online. For a new generation of dancehall listeners, he has become one of the clearest examples of how the genre can stay close to its core and still keep evolving.
