Lutan Fyah Biography & Music Discography

Riddimz Kalacta X King Dem - Dancehall History 2025 Freestyle

Lutan Fyah is a Jamaican reggae singer and deejay known for conscious lyrics, a roots-heavy delivery, and a steady stream of music that has kept him a familiar voice in modern Caribbean reggae. Born Anthony Martin in Spanish Town, St. Catherine Parish, he came up through the Bobo Shanti Rastafari tradition and built his reputation on songs that blend spiritual conviction with streetwise realism. Before committing fully to music, he studied architecture at the University of Technology in Jamaica and played football at a competitive level, but by the late 1990s he was focused on recording and performing.
His early career took shape around 1999, when he began cutting songs for Buju Banton’s Gargamel imprint and moving through Jamaica’s reggae circuit. From there, he developed a sound that sat comfortably between classic roots reggae and contemporary dancehall, with a clear emphasis on uplift, faith, and social commentary. That approach helped him connect with audiences at home and abroad, and he became a regular name on the international reggae festival and touring scene.
Over the years, Lutan Fyah has released music on labels in Jamaica, the UK, and the United States, while also collaborating with fellow artists across the genre. He has worked with names such as Luciano and Turbulence, and his catalogue includes well-known records like Life Of A King, which showed his willingness to stretch beyond strictly roots arrangements without losing the message at the center of his work. He has also been heard on crossover projects outside reggae, including Rusko’s Babylon Volume 2, where he appeared on “Sound Guy Is My Target.”
That broad reach has helped define his career: rooted in conscious reggae, but flexible enough to move between sounds, audiences, and eras. Releases such as Load It and Champion reflect the same qualities that have long made him recognizable — a firm vocal style, a direct lyrical approach, and an unshaken loyalty to reggae’s social and spiritual core. For listeners following contemporary Jamaican roots music, Lutan Fyah remains one of the artists most closely associated with its message-driven heart.
