Busy Signal
Reanno Devon Gordon, born on 24 January 1979 in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica, is a dancehall and reggae artist. Busy Signal is one of the prominent leaders in the contemporary dancehall movement since 2003. “Step out” was his 1st single in 2005 and it put him out there and grew his fan base when he released the hit album in 2006 titled Step Out. His friends gave him the nickname “Busy Signal” because he is always busy. In the Caribbean and the US, his hit tracks in 2007/2008 were played and had many dancehall reviews particularly “Unknown Number”, “Nah Go A Jail Again”, “Tic Toc” and “Smoke Some High Grade.” His 2nd studio album was released on 22 September 2008. It was a 15 track compilation made on VP Records with popular tracks like “These Are the Days.” In 2011, he introduced a self-styled clothing line. Gordon was extradited to the US on 19 June where he faced cocaine-related charges after being arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica on 21 May 2012. He was sentenced to six months in jail in September 2012 though he was released in November and immediately released the single “Come Shock Out” Reggae Music Again was ranked in 2012 by BBC Music on number 7 of their top 25 albums. Parts of the Puzzle album was number 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart just after it had been released by VP Records on 4 October 2019.
