Alexfire Riddim – Scrappers Production

Firelamp and Vicky Vee set the tone early on Alexfire Riddim with “Mangwana Akajeka, ” and that opening gives Scrappers Production’s 2013 juggling its shape: a compact dancehall set that leans hard into streetwise, mid-tempo pressure while still leaving room for sweeter, more melodic turns. M-Thang’s “Ndichakumirira, ” Takee D’s “Underage, ” and Nectar’s “Bad and Wild” keep the pace moving, while Quickcie and Aspa King push the dancefloor side of the riddim with sharper, flirtier cuts. There’s a local flavor running through the tracklist too, especially on Ckd’s “Ndichitikutamba” and Ras Jonah’s “Chirere, ” which help the release feel rooted rather than generic. But the real anchor is Firelamp’s return alongside Alex T on the closing version, the kind of final pass that leaves the riddim’s bounce and bassline hanging in the air after the vocals drop out.
